From Janis: I hired David when he was 19 years old and we were about to cut “At Seventeen”. He was young, hungry, and even then, a terrific solid player, holding his own while sitting next to more established players like Richard Davis. In fact, there was some infighting during the session with another musician I will not name, who objected to “an amateur” being there. Since I operate on the theory that we’re all amateurs at one time or another, I offered that musician the choice of staying and being supportive, or leaving. He left. David, on the other hand, got a gold record for his efforts. Great to have you here, David!
BETTER TIMES WILL COME
(Janis Ian)
Better times, better times will come.
Better times, better times will come.
When this world learns to live as one,
oh, better times will come
When we greet each dawn without fear
knowing loved ones soon will be near
When the winds of war
cannot blow any more
Oh, better times will come
CHORUS
Though we live each day as our last
we know someday soon it will pass
We will dance, we will sing
in that never-ending spring
Oh, better times will come
CHORUS
