Guitar/vocal – George Sansome
From Janis: First of all, I love George’s glasses. And that’s in addition to loving his work, both solo and with Granny’s Attic, a British trad folk trio. I’ve waited a while for his version to arrive, because he’s so busy – he plays in a duo with Matt Quinn, works with the Leeds-based ceilidh band Captain Bullhead, just appeared in Mick Ryan’s most recent folk opera Here At the Fair, and is in general one of the busier people I know. George’s version amplifies on my original three chords, lending certain lines a darkness they might not have otherwise, and he manages to convey simplicity and complexity at the same time – one of the hardest things for an artist to do.
BETTER TIMES WILL COME
(Janis Ian)
Better times, better times will come.
Better times, better times will come.
When this world learns to live as one,
oh, better times will come
When we greet each dawn without fear
knowing loved ones soon will be near
When the winds of war
cannot blow any more
Oh, better times will come
CHORUS
Though we live each day as our last
we know someday soon it will pass
We will dance, we will sing
in that never-ending spring
Oh, better times will come
CHORUS
