From Janis: Here is an amazing back story. Decades ago, after a performance in Japan, I met a woman wearing the most beautiful jade necklace. I made the mistake of admiring it, and she insisted on giving it to me. In turn I gave her the only piece of jewelry I was wearing, an onyx necklace near and dear to my own heart. For years, I searched for this woman, wanting to at least send a note of gratitude. I kept the jade necklace and wore it often, even during interviews for Japanese television, hoping she would reach out to me. So imagine my astonishment when I saw that same onyx necklace on Tagami after seeing his video on line! Yes, it was his own mother who’d given me the jade necklace. And yes, I was finally able to thank her, through him. And yes, this is a gorgeous piece of dobro playing. To continue the full circle of coincidences, he’d seen Casey Driessen’s version, and met Casey in Japan – talk about a small world!
BETTER TIMES WILL COME
(Janis Ian)
Better times, better times will come.
Better times, better times will come.
When this world learns to live as one,
oh, better times will come
When we greet each dawn without fear
knowing loved ones soon will be near
When the winds of war
cannot blow any more
Oh, better times will come
CHORUS
Though we live each day as our last
we know someday soon it will pass
We will dance, we will sing
in that never-ending spring
Oh, better times will come
CHORUS
