Performed and produced by Kris Schubert at the Boatshed, O’Connell NSW (Australia)

From Janis: I saw a note urging me to check out Australian Kris Schubert’s rendition of my song “Stars”, which was gorgeous. In our correspondence, I learned he was trying to cheer friends and family by playing requests and posting them for everyone to hear. Coming to the project from his home, a half-finished music studio in the western foothills of the Blue Mountains, Kris is doing the same sort of thing that inspired this project. He’s found a way to be helpful, as an artist, and provide a bit of distraction for people during troubled times. Normally songwriter and singer for the blues/soul band Safety of Life at Sea, Kris is playing a 100+ year old grand piano that he rescued from a bonfire. No, really. How many of us can say they rescued a wonderful instrument from a bonfire!

BETTER TIMES WILL COME
(Janis Ian)

Better times, better times will come.
Better times, better times will come.
When this world learns to live as one,
oh, better times will come

When we greet each dawn without fear
knowing loved ones soon will be near
When the winds of war
cannot blow any more
Oh, better times will come

CHORUS

Though we live each day as our last
we know someday soon it will pass
We will dance, we will sing
in that never-ending spring
Oh, better times will come

CHORUS
