From Janis: “Cam and Doug” come to the project via their friend Noel Stookey, and like Noel did, they’ve created a really arresting video. Below is what they sent about themselves; they say it better than I can!

From Cam: Cellist Cameron Sawzin is a usually busy Boston-based freelance cellist and earned bachelors and master’s degrees from Oberlin College and the New England Conservatory. She attended Juilliard while in High School, playing on recording sessions in New York. As artistic director of the Boston Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, she is designing an ongoing multimedia concert series in Boston with Grammy winning guitarist and composer Claudio Ragazzi.

From Doug: With ten CD’s to his credit, Virgin records recording artist Doug Cameron is a favorite on radio internationally. Cameron has also recorded and performed with a wide range of artists, from Tom Petty, The Allman Brothers, Sammy Davis Jr., Cher, George Benson, Doc Severinsen, Paul Stookey (Peter Paul & Mary), Kansas and renowned producer David Foster among many others. He has toured internationally with his group and also often appears as a soloist with a symphony orchestra and a unique pops program featuring all of his own arrangements. Doug has been teaching music in Cuba and recently was one of only two American headliners for the famed Havana Jazz Festival.

As an educator, Doug has two instructional series out for the violin. His latest, called “Swing Your Strings” takes tried and true Suzuki songs and adds jazz, Celtic, country, gospel and other styles. Doug has two young sons, Alex age 13 and Sean age 10. They both play the violin and also are featured with Doug in many of his shows. 13 year old Alex has already had the opportunity to study and perform with famed violinist, Itzhak Perlman. Alex’s video arrangement of Drake’s hit, “God’s Plan” helping the homeless in New York with his music has gone viral on YouTube.

BETTER TIMES WILL COME
(Janis Ian)

Better times, better times will come.
Better times, better times will come.
When this world learns to live as one,
oh, better times will come

When we greet each dawn without fear
knowing loved ones soon will be near
When the winds of war
cannot blow any more
Oh, better times will come

CHORUS

Though we live each day as our last
we know someday soon it will pass
We will dance, we will sing
in that never-ending spring
Oh, better times will come

CHORUS
