From Janis: Meet my friend Everett Drake, known as “Ever Everett” to his friends and “EverReady Everett” to me, because he’s always ready to make music. A 30-year veteran of Dr. Bobby Jones’ Gospel show (FYI the longest-running cable show on television), Everett and I met when we were both recording at Sound Emporium Studios. I heard this great sound and rudely stuck my nose in the control room, then asked if I could meet the artist. We struck up a friendship then and there, and it’s continued ever since. I love this version, because just like his other work, Everett goes straight to the heart.

Everett’s stage nick-name is “Mr. Amen Goes Right There”, also the name of his forthcoming album, and he has a television show, EVERETT DRAKE N-TUNE WITH INDIES, an informative talk show designed to educate and empower Independent Artists, coming soon to BGNTV.

*Special thanks to Derrick Lee, MD for the Bobby Jones show, for his arrangement and help with this recording!

(Janis Ian)

Better times, better times will come.
Better times, better times will come.
When this world learns to live as one,
oh, better times will come

When we greet each dawn without fear
knowing loved ones soon will be near
When the winds of war
cannot blow any more
Oh, better times will come

Though we live each day as our last
we know someday soon it will pass
We will dance, we will sing
in that never-ending spring
Oh, better times will come
