From Janis: Meet my current favorite trio, Wyvern Lingo. Originally from Bray, County Wicklow in Ireland, Saoirse Duane, Caoimhe Barry, and Karen Cowley grew up making music together. When we first began corresponding, they were knee-deep into recording their newest album, Awake You Lie (interesting title, eh? Think about it…), and asked if I could wait until they were done. Corresponding with them is full of tidbits like “We did finally manage to record it on our houseboat studio in Berlin”, or the trick question “So how do you pronounce ‘Caoimhe’?” There are moments in this video that actually give me chills – when the harmonies first begin, when the drummer sings a high lick I’d never even attempt. I’m beyond happy to welcome them here.

Make sure you check their website and have a listen to the new album, out today, January 6, 2021. It’s no accident that the release date is also Twelfth Night, the feast of the Epiphany and – as it is known in Ireland – “Women’s Christmas”.

BETTER TIMES WILL COME
(Janis Ian)

Better times, better times will come.
Better times, better times will come.
When this world learns to live as one,
oh, better times will come

When we greet each dawn without fear
knowing loved ones soon will be near
When the winds of war
cannot blow any more
Oh, better times will come

CHORUS

Though we live each day as our last
we know someday soon it will pass
We will dance, we will sing
in that never-ending spring
Oh, better times will come

CHORUS
